Table Pads | Top Reviews and Best Prices

Purchasing Table Pads can be costly, but weigh that against ruining a wood table top with your hot pans and it is worth it.  I have found a way to protect my table without spending a fortune to do it.

There are two ways I have found to make Table Pads and both work for this project.  First, you can go to your local store and purchase a bottom fitted sheet the size of your table, a piece of felt that measures the length and width of your table top, and fabric glue if you don’t have a sewing machine.  Take your fitted sheet and turn it inside out, place over your table. On top of that in the center out you are going to place your piece of felt and either glue your felt to the sheet or stitch it.

Now when you flip this over and put it back on the table and you have yourself cheap Table Pads that will protect your table from burns and watermarks.  The second project is to purchase a piece of material that will fit your table and allow four inches on all sides to hang over.  Again purchase a piece of thick felt that will be placed down first on the table and the material will go over this.  You can glue or tack the material to the felt or place both down together and the felt will naturally sort of stay put on your table pads.

With picking out the material for your Table Pads you can find a pattern or design that will accent your kitchen without draining your wallet.  Felt is fairly inexpensive and comes in different thicknesses.  Watch washing and drying this though, I wash mine on delicate then hang it to dry as to not shrink or distort the felt.

You can also buy fabric paint or markers and decorate your own table cloth for an occasion or for everyday.  Another decorating idea I have seen is the photo embossed on the material which makes an unusual Christmas or birthday gift as well.  I first tried making Table Pads out of cardboard with material over them, but this failed to keep moisture and heat from penetrating.  It doesn’t matter the thickness of the card board once it gets wet with a spill it is ruined.

Protecting your wood table surface is important because marks caused by water and heat will depreciate your tables value along with its eye appeal.  Table Pads are found in your local stores but probably not in a large array of design, however on the internet you can purchase many different patterns and styles.  I have seen them start around nineteen dollars and go up from there in price, but like I said better than a marred up table top.

My father in law actually made a table top out of counter top that looked like wood and would place this over his table when meals were served or poker was being played to protect it.  Now with this the problem is storing the counter top Table Pads when your not using it as to enjoy the beauty of your table.  So on the practical side the material made Table Pads are easy to store, change, and clean.
